Dizzy Wright was born in Flint, Michigan and at the age of four moved with his mom and siblings to Las Vegas. He grew up with his favorite rappers being Nas and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, his "uncle" Layzie Bone is a member of. He began rapping at just 8 years old with the group “DaFuture” with his brother and a very close friend. His mother wrote his raps at the time and was a concert promoter so he was exposed to the music industry early. He credits his doing youth reporting for award shows like BET Awards being the reason he wants to stay away from major record labels and stick to independent labels. Throughout the rest of high school Dizzy lived in Georgia and California before moving back to Las Vegas when he was in twelveth grade. Wright took part and won the Sheikh Music “Rip the Mic” Competition in 2010, which impressed record label Funk Volume.
On March 11, 2013 Dizzy released the first song from his mixtape titled "Maintain". He was par of the XXl Magazine 2013 Freshman class, on account of getting the “People’s Choice” vote. His mixtape “The Golden Age” was released for free, and for purchase on iTunes on August 19, 2013. Due to its retail release, it debuted on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at number 39 becoming his highest charting project at the time.
